Feedback

This is the feedback I got for my Unedited version of my Radio drama

What drops on the floor ? Big bump (Rizzla)

Sound effects

Cut out giggling

Mary jane/cuts in too quickly

Need a doorbell for Domino pizza
+ door opening/closing

The simplicity made it easy to listen to

The general opinion was that it was funny

Add in fades for scene changes

All of these problems have been taken out of my final edit
their are loads of different sound effects , lots of careful editing
of various different audio files and rerecorded dialouge in certain places

Material List (foley sound)

Im not going to need alot of materials for recording but I will need a couple things.

A few packets of crisps to make the sound of food rustling.

A shed door or a piece of wood to slap down , for when they leave the shed.

A few beeps and random noices to show that their using equiptment.

And finally Im going to record a keyboard tapping because that will make it clear to the user when somebodys on the computer.

Things are likely to come up and I may have to improvise and change things
but Im going to keep this log updated and make sure that anything that I
record is logged and available to refrence at any point.

Im also going to need a high quality microphone for recording
I can either borrow one from music technology which I think I might do.
Or borrow one from a friend and record it with that.
Il see how it plays out and when the microphones are available.

Here is a picture of the microphones that college has.

Location Plan

I plan on recording the drama at a friends music studio , I will have acccess to professional equiptment and since my drama is based in a music studio its the perfect place for me to record my project.

The studio is in windsor should provide the perfect enviroment for recording but if for some reason I cant use the studio I can record at my house because I have a home studio with similar equiptment.

Im going to go with the third opening because I feel that it captures the teenage humour that I'm going with and really gives you an idea what the characters are like in very few words.

L01 : Understanding codes , conventions , styles and structures of radio drama genres

Codes - Whilst writing my script I am baring in mind various different codes that I can use to make my drama more intresting and engaging . Their are various different ways that I am going to do this , for example the use of music throughout to and to the words and voices and SFX are going to be used throughout.

I feel that using these different codes and ideas gives me more room and different angles to approach this project from and I intend to use them to my best advantage.

Conventions - The story is mainly based on spoken word as I dont want any narration in my drama , I might include a flashback and a fades in and out.

I dont want the listeners to get distracted by narration or constantly changing plot lines with constant flashbacks and things to think about , I want a simple straight forward well though out drama that I can produce to a high standard.

Styles - The content in my drama is perfect for my demographic , its made by a teenageer , the only actors in it are teenagers and its going to be presented to a teenage audience.

Its a very modern style radio drama and I feel that its a new idea that hasn't been done before , so I have alot of room to adapt change and find a good strong style that fits the wants and needs of a young audience.

Im even going to the effort of recording everything in a music studio , not only is this the perfect place to edit and prepare my finished drama but its where the drama is set.

Structures - I'm aiming for the drama to be about five minutes long because I dont want to drag it on for to long and young audiences have a tendency to get bored and distracted very easily to I would like to keep things moving quickly.

The plot is slow moving and develops throughout the story , its easy to follow alot of people are going to be able to relate to it and hopefully people might even find it funny.

Treatment for "The Studio"

Treatment for “The Producers”

The story follows the lives of two young music producers “Bill and Ben” who are trying to break into the music industry. Their stories are presented to the audience in a fun light hearted manner and the whole drama is filled with dry humour and sarcastic jokes which I feel teenagers will find funny.
As the scene is set and the story begins the two protagonists are enthusiastic and excited by the idea of creating some new music that could potentially make them famous, and over the course of the five minutes their enthusiasm slips away and start messing about and losing focus.
This is definitely a Radio drama for a younger audience, music fans and fans of comedy and although most teenagers dont listen to radio dramas hopefully this twist on in can encourage people to take the time and consider tuning in to listen.

Its a slow paced and chilled out drama and its really easy to follow , my aim is for the audience to feel like that are in the same situation as the protagonists just relaxing and chilling and laughing occasionaly , if I can achieve that then I willl be content with my project.

Althought the story is slow paced their is still a strong and intresting story that develops throughout the drama , a few twists and turns and things that you would not expect will keep the audience engaged throughout.

The attention to detail during the recording process and the folly sound recording will make this drama so realistic that you can really imagine the scene and feel alot more involved in whats going on than you might if listening to a low budget production.

My Chosen Idea

After reviewing my three ideas and researching and thinking about the time and resources each idea might take I have decided to go with the story "the studio" , I feel that I have everything I need to produce this story to a high standard. Im going to record the drama in a real music studio using proffesional equiptment and will be able to take advantage of all the equiptment and editing software available to me.

Ideas For My Radio Drama

Here are my ideas for my radio drama, each one is very different from the last and Im going to have to plan out and research which one is going to be the most appropriate for the equipment, time and resources that I have.

The Studio
Two young producers are sitting in a studio trying to produce some electronic music that they can sell to major record labels and in turn become multi-millionaires and music legends. They start of really enthusiastic and as the story continues they realise that their ideas are farfetched and they need to re-think their plans and take a more professional approach.

The World’s richest homeless man
The Story follows the hilarious antics of the world’s richest homeless man, he’s a lottery winning millionaire but he’s always so drunk that when he goes into the estate agents they just ask him to leave and assume he’s a poor homeless drunk.

The Modern Jungle Warrior
A Mongolian jungle warrior who was raised in a time of war has to adapt to a dull and boring jungle without any fighting, only animals trees and water. He’s trying to find ways to spend his time living in the jungle , plot twists might include a bear or some kind of hilarious coconut accident.
